Balochistan Safe Blood Transfusion Authority
Protecting lives through safe, ethical and quality-assured blood transfusion services across Balochistan.
What BBTA Does
BBTA regulates and strengthens blood transfusion services by licensing blood banks, inspecting facilities, enforcing safe storage and screening standards, supporting technical training, and promoting voluntary non-remunerated blood donation.
Licensing & Registration
Registration and licensing of public and private blood banks so facilities operate under clear safety and technical criteria.
Inspections & Screening
Routine inspections check storage, equipment calibration, SOP compliance and mandatory screening for transfusion-transmissible infections.
Thalassemia Support
Support for thalassemia patients includes safe screened blood access, patient registration, carrier screening advocacy and awareness campaigns.
Safe Blood Saves Lives in Balochistan
The need for safe blood is urgent for patients facing thalassemia, cancer, trauma, surgery and pregnancy-related emergencies. BBTA works to build a regulated blood safety system where every blood unit is collected ethically, screened properly, stored safely and transfused only when medically justified.
Public participation is equally important. Healthy eligible citizens can help by donating blood through safe and approved services, while families can reduce future thalassemia suffering through awareness, carrier screening and genetic counselling.
Legal Foundation and Standards
BBTA’s work is supported by the Balochistan Safe Blood Transfusion Act, 2004 and the Balochistan Safe Blood Transfusion Rules, 2005. These documents guide the province’s licensing, inspection, blood bank standards and safe transfusion practices.
